Axel Georg Ljungdahl (born August 7, 1897 in Lund , † April 12, 1995 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish lieutenant general .

Life

Axel Ljungdahl began his military career in the infantry , where he was promoted to lieutenant in 1918 . After the founding of the Air Force in 1926, he moved and was a military and air force attaché in London from 1935 to 1936 . After his return to Sweden he was squadron commander (F1) in Västerås from 1939 to 1942 and commander of the 3rd Flygeskadern from 1947 to 1954. Until his retirement in 1960 he was commander of the air force.

In retirement, Ljungdahl studied, received his doctorate in religious history in 1970 and completed a degree in theology with a bachelor's degree in 1975.
