Lois Freeman-Fox
Lois Ellen Freeman-Fox (born March 21, 1947 ) is an American film editor , sculptor , painter and university teacher .
Life
After Lois Freeman-Fox graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Cornell University , she studied sculpture at the University of California, Berkeley . During this time she worked on various sculptures, some of which are still on the campuses of the San José State University , the San Francisco Art Institute and the Sacramento State College . After graduating from Berkley, she worked for some time as a curator at the local University Art Museum Berkley and also organized larger art festivals. From there she was appointed director of the IC Gallery at UC Davis , where she not only continued to organize major art events for San Francisco artists , but also began to be interested in film editing.
So she moved to New York, where she financed her studies in film at New York University as a photographer and artist of collages . She then stayed in New York, where she was given the opportunity to work as an assistant sound editor in films such as Carrie - Des Satan's Youngest Daughter and Der Stadtneurotiker . As early as 1979 she was allowed to independently lead a sound editing for Heartland for the first time , while she was able to assist Alan Heim and Stanley Warnow with the image editing for the musical Hair for the first time. She was already working in Los Angeles with the film Hair , so that other films quickly followed. As an assistant to Sheldon Kahn, she edited films such as Schütze Benjamin and Die Sensationsreporterin .
After she was responsible for editing a film with Teenwolf for the first time, other comedies soon followed, such as Wie der Vater, wie der Sohn , Scott & Huutsch and Stop! Or my mommy shoots! . However, this also meant that her art was pushed further into the background. It was only when she was hired for Fantasia 2000 and started working with several animators again that she developed the desire to get more involved with art.
Since she was already teaching during the film editing of The Outlaws at the University of Southern California , she withdrew more and more from the film business and from 2003 took a full-time position at the Brooks Institute to teach film editing there. She also gave more and more space to her art and showed her digital film and photo art in several exhibitions. She currently lives with her husband, guitarist Stuart Granville Fox (* 1942) in Fillmore , California .
Lois Freeman-Fox is a member of the American Cinema Editors .
