Shortly afterwards he achieved an international box-office hit with the real-life adaptation of the Transformers film series, with the third part, Transformers 3, being one of the ten most successful films to date . He has also produced other star-studded action films, including Shooter (2007) with Mark Wahlberg , the comic book adaptations GI Joe - Secret Order Cobra (2009) and RED (2010) with Bruce Willis and Morgan Freeman , the spy thriller Salt (2010) with Angelina Jolie and the Thriller A Risky Plan (2012) starring Sam Worthington and Elizabeth Banks .

Di Bonaventura and his production partner Mark Vahradian are currently planning, together with Prodigy Pictures , which was founded by Jay Firestone in 2006, an adaptation of the award-winning dystopian science fiction novel Neuromancer from 1984 by William Gibson , which was already used as a template for the Matrix trilogy served. Vincenzo Natali is to act as screenwriter and director . Other current projects are mainly sequels such as RED 2 , GI Joe - Die Abrechnung , Transformers: Ära des Fall and Salt 2 , as well as The Last Stand with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Steven Soderbergh's Side Effects - Fatal side effects with Jude Law and Channing Tatum .
