Ludwig Friedrich Bogislav von Sanitz (born June 14, 1783 in Breslau , † March 30, 1836 in Glogau ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

Louis was a member of Neumark noble family of Sanitz . His parents were Lieutenant General Karl Wilhelm von Sanitz (1747-1821) and his wife Wilhelmine Sophie Elisabeth, born von Grolman (* July 8, 1762, † November 16, 1842).

Military career

Sanitz came on July 1, 1796 as a private corporal in the infantry regiment "Hohenlohe-Ingelfingen" of the Prussian Army . On December 13, 1797, he became an ensign and on May 3, 1801, second lieutenant . During the Fourth Coalition War he fought in the Battle of Jena , then in the defense of Kolberg .

After the Peace of Tilsit , on August 3, 1807, Sanitz became Premier Lieutenant in the 2nd Pomeranian Reserve Battalion and on August 23, 1808, he was appointed captain of the Leibgrenadier Regiment No. 8 . On April 3, 1812, Sanitz was promoted to captain and appointed company commander. On May 17, 1813 he became his father's adjutant and leader of the Silesian Landwehr. During the Wars of Liberation he fought near Dresden , Leipzig and Belle Alliance , where he also received the Iron Cross, 2nd class. Sanitz also fought in the battle of Aubervilliers. On June 29, 1813 he was promoted to major with a patent from October 5, 1813 and transferred to the 1st Silesian Infantry Regiment (No. 10) on October 4, 1814 . There he was appointed battalion commander on April 1, 1815, and in this position he was promoted to lieutenant colonel on October 3, 1815 .

After the war, Sanitz came on April 9, 1817 as a commander in the 16th Infantry Regiment , there he became a colonel on March 30, 1823 , before he came as a commander in the 11th Infantry Regiment on June 18, 1825 . On September 9, 1828, he received the Order of the Red Eagle, 3rd class , before retiring on March 27, 1831 with the character of major general and pension . He died on March 30, 1836 in Glogau.
