Polenzko is a district of the city of Zerbst / Anhalt in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district in Saxony-Anhalt (Germany).

Until December 31, 2009 Polenzko was an independent municipality with the associated districts Bärenthoren and Mühro. 296 inhabitants lived on a municipal area of ​​19.92 km² (December 31, 2008). On January 1, 2010 the incorporation into Zerbst / Anhalt took place .

The village of Polenzko near the sources of the (middle) Nuthe on the edge of the Hohe Fläming is about 15 kilometers northeast of Zerbst and about 22 kilometers north of Dessau-Roßlau . The wooded area east of Polenzko reaches heights of up to 136 m above sea level. NHN ( vineyards ).

Bärenthoren Castle

The village of Bärenthoren belonged to the Polenzko municipality until 2009. Then it became part of the city of Zerbst / Anhalt . The village became famous for the Bärenthorener pine industry , which the forest scientist Friedrich von Kalitsch founded in 1884 and which today forms a forest cultural monument with an area of ​​193 hectares.

The village church, built in the 12th century, is one of a number of planned themed churches of the Zerbst Evangelical Church District. The Polenzko Church is designed as a Christmas church all year round . The oversized nativity scene figures Maria and Josef were created by the Zerbst wood sculptor Horst Sommer from poplar trunks. On the 3rd Sunday of Advent in 2009, the church received a baby Jesus around one and a half meters long and weighing several hundred kilograms .
