Macau Open 2012 (Squash)

The Macau Open 2012 took place in Macau from October 18-21, 2012 . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2012/13 and belonged to the International 50 category . The women's tournament was part of the WSA World Tour 2012/13 and belonged to the WSA Silver 20 category .

Defending champion in the men's category was Mohamed Elshorbagy , who reached the final again this year. In this he was defeated by Karim Darwish with 9:11, 11: 7, 10:12, 11: 4 and 11: 9. The women's competition was won by Joelle King , who won the final against Omneya Abdel Kawy 11: 5, 11: 1, 9:11, 6:11 and 11: 6. Last year's winner was Joey Chan , who did not get past the first round.

The field of participants in the men's and women's competition consisted of 16 players each, four of which were reserved for qualifiers. The four best male players and the eight best female players were seeded. Per Wildcard received Armando Amante and Liu Chi Kwai each a spot in the main draw.

Prize money and world ranking points

At the tournament, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who entered the main field from qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round. Otherwise the amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. The total prize pool was $ 50,000 for the men and $ 25,000 for the women.
