Madeline Hills (born May 15, 1987 in Shellharbour as Madeline Heiner ) is an Australian long distance and obstacle runner .

Athletic career

Madeline Hills gained her first international experience at the 2004 Junior World Championships in Grosseto , where she was eliminated in the first round with a time of 4: 25.13 minutes in the 1,500 meter run . Then she won the Commonwealth Youth Games in Bendigo over 3000 meters and won bronze over 1500 meters. In 2014 she took part for the first time in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow , Scotland , where she finished fourth in the obstacle course in 9: 34.01 min . The following year she took part in the World Championships in Beijing , where she was eliminated with 15: 47.97 minutes in the run-up to the 5000 meter competition. Also in the obstacle course she could not qualify for the final with 9: 30.79 min . In 2016 she took part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she finished ninth over 5000 meters with 15: 04.05 min in the final . Also in the obstacle course she was seventh in the final with 9: 20.38 min . In 2017 she took part again in the World Championships in London and finished tenth over 5000 meters in 15: 13.77 minutes , while she finished 26th over 10,000 meters after 32: 48.57 minutes.

The following year she was tenth over 5000 meters in 15: 46.92 minutes at the Commonwealth Games in her home country Gold Coast and finished eighth in the 10,000 meter race in 32: 01.04 minutes.

In 2015 Hills was the Australian champion in the 5000 meter run and in 2016 over the 3000 meter obstacle course. She studied pharmacy at Sydney University and received a Masters in Public Health from the University of New South Wales .
