Malakand District is an administrative district in Pakistan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province . The seat of the district administration is the city of Batkhela . The district has the status of a protected tribal area.
The district has an area of 952 km² and according to the 2017 census 720,295 inhabitants. The population density is 757 inhabitants / km².
geography
The district is located in the north of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, which is in the north of Pakistan. Malakand is surrounded by high mountains that are rich in natural resources.
Demographics
Between 1998 and 2017 the population grew by 2.47% annually. About 9% of the population live in urban areas and about 91% in rural areas. 362,089 men, 358,203 women and 3 transgender people live in 91,414 households , resulting in a gender ratio of 101.1 men per 100 women, which is a common surplus of men for Pakistan.
