Malilait is an East Timorese Suco in the Bobonaro Administrative Office ( Bobonaro municipality ).

Before the 2015 territorial reform, Malilait had an area of ​​8.35 km². Now there are 5.27 km². The Suco is to the north of the Bobonaro administrative office. To the north of Malilait lies the Suco Atu-Aben , in the northeast Soileco , east Lourba , south the Suco Bobonaro and west Oeleo . In the northwest, Malilait borders the Maliana administrative office with its Suco Ritabou . The Loumea River flows on the southeastern border with Bobonaro . The Mabesi , which forms part of the border with Lourba, flows into it. The river Anaslota , part of the Lóis river system , flows along the border with Oeleo and Ritabou . The overland road from Maliana to Carabau , where the larger Sucos settlements are located , runs through the Suco . In the northeast these are Grotu and Harare , in the center Uat and Taimea . From the south, Bobonaro , the main town of the administrative office, extends into the Suco. This part of the settlement center Bobonaro is called Malilu . In Grotu there is a primary school, the Escola Cineza ( tetum Escola Sineza ).

In the grotto of Malilait there is a statue of the Virgin Mary.

In the Suco are the three Aldeias Malilu , Malilait and Taimea .

Residents

1373 inhabitants (2015) live in the Suco, 652 of whom are men and 721 women. The population density is 260.5 inhabitants / km². There are 255 households in the Suco. About 70% of the population name Tetum Prasa as their mother tongue. 15% each speak Bunak or Kemak .

politics

In the 2004/2005 elections , Fernando de Oliveira X. was elected Chefe de Suco. Sebastião Sequeira won the elections in 2009 and Mario de Jesus Carvalho in 2016 .
