Lourba is an East Timorese village and Suco in the Bobonaro Administrative Office ( Bobonaro municipality ).

The place

Lourba is located in the northeast of the Sucos at an altitude of 919  m above sea level. The place forms with the places Lourba Leten ( Lourbaleteo , Lourbaleten , in German: Ober-Lourba ) and Zo-Belis ( Zobelis ) a settlement center. There is a primary school (the Escola Primaria Lourba ) and a school to prepare for secondary school.

1421 inhabitants (2015) live in the Suco, of which 701 are men and 720 women. The population density is 200.7 inhabitants / km². There are 270 households in the Suco. More than 80% of the population name Bunak as their mother tongue. More than 15% speak Kemak , small minorities Idaté , Makalero or Tetum Prasa .

Before the 2015 regional reform, Lourba had an area of ​​7.65 km². Now it is 7.08 km². The Suco is to the north of the Bobonaro administrative office. To the north lies the Suco Soileco , northeast Maliubu , east Tebabui , southeast Carabau , south Bobonaro and west Malilait . The border to Maliubu and Tebabui is formed by the Babalai River , which forms part of the Lóis river system . The Loumea flows along the border with Suco Bobonaro. The Mabesi , which forms part of the border with Malilait, flows into it.

The country road from Maliana to Carabau runs through the north of the Sucos in a west-east direction. Most of the larger Sucos towns are located on it: Gumer , Lourba Leten , Lourba and Ohobin . A little south of the road is the village of Zo-Belis . In the northeast of the Sucos lies the village of Sordoli ( Sardoli , Saidoli ).

In the Suco are the four Aldeias Gumer , Lourba Leten , Sordoli and Zo-Belis .

history

In Lourba , as in many other parts of the country, after the independence referendum in East Timor in 1999 , there were massive acts of violence. By soldiers of the Indonesian National Armed Forces and pro-Indonesian militias houses were burnt and murdered known pro-independence.

politics

In the 2004/2005 elections , Silverio Cardoso was elected Chefe de Suco. Fernando de Jesus Barreto won the elections in 2009 and Lino da Cruz in 2016 .
