Manuel Latusa (born January 23, 1984 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian ice hockey player who played for the EC KAC , EC Red Bull Salzburg and the Vienna Capitals in the Austrian ice hockey league .

Career

Latusa, who comes from the youth of the Vienna EV , gained his first experience as a professional ice hockey player at the EC KAC , but moved back to his hometown to the Vienna Capitals in 2001 after becoming Austrian champions with the Klagenfurt team in 2001 . There he quickly developed into a regular player and won the championship title with the team in the 2004/05 season after an outstanding season. In 2006 he took part in the KELLY'S All-Star Game of the ÖEHL. As a result, the team was largely rebuilt every season. In the course of this process, Latusa also left the team after seven years and signed a contract with EC Red Bull Salzburg in 2008 , where he still plays today. He won further championship titles with the Red Bulls in 2010, 2011 when he was the top scorer in the playoffs, 2014, 2015 and 2016. In 2014, participation in the playoff final was enough, as the victorious final opponent HC Bozen as an Italian team could win the league but not the national championship title. In 2010 he won the Continental Cup with the Salzburg team . A year later she won the European Trophy . Between 2014 and 2016 he won three Austrian championship titles in a row with the Salzburg team.

He ended his career in April 2018.

International

After the turn of the millennium, Latusa was a fixed starter in the junior national teams for a long time and took part in the U18 World Championships in 2001 and 2002 in Division I as well as in 2003 in Division I and in 2004 in the top division. He made his debut in the senior national team on April 9, 2003 in Skalica in the 1: 5 defeat against Slovakia . But it was not until 2010 that he was used for the first time in a world championship , where he contributed two goals in five games in Division I to the team's promotion to the top group. He then took part in the top division World Championships in 2011 , 2013 and 2015 . In 2012 he played again with the Alpenländers in Division I and, as the best goalscorer, best striker and member of the All-Star team, made a decisive contribution to the immediate promotion of his team to the top division. He also represented his colors in qualifying for the 2014 Winter Olympics and the Games in Sochi itself.
