Marcos Javier Acuña (born October 28, 1991 in Zapala , Neuquén Province ) is an Argentine football player .

Career

He started his athletic training at Club Don Bosco in his hometown. At that time he was playing as a left-back. His good performance made him known to scouts, who invited him to tests in various clubs in Buenos Aires. So he tried his hand at the age of 13, but did not stay with Boca Juniors and San Lorenzo de Almagro . Four years later he tried his hand at Quilmes AC , CA River Plate and CA Tigre before being finally taken over by Ferro Carril Oeste . After a few seasons in Ferro's reserve team, he was promoted to first team. He made his debut in 2009 in a game in the Primera B Nacional as a winger under the coach José María Bianco. Back in the 2013/14 season, he stood out for his ability to support his teammates by preparing twelve goals, which attracted the attention of the big clubs. At Ferro, Acuña played a total of 117 games with five goals and 23 assists .

In 2014 he switched to Racing Club de Avellaneda . In the cup against San Martín de San Juan , he played his first game and scored his first goal. Avellaneda won 1-0. After thirteen years without a title , the team was able to win the championship again in 2014 .

In July 2017 he moved to Portugal to Sporting Lisbon . In the 2-0 away win against Desportivo Aves , he made his first competitive appearance here.

National team

On November 6, 2016, he made his international debut in the Argentina national soccer team in the World Cup qualifier against Chile . He is part of the final squad for the 2018 World Cup .
