Sebastián Coates , full name Sebastián Coates Nión , (born October 7, 1990 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

society

The 1.96 meter tall Coates is the son of an English immigrant and began playing football at Nacional Montevideo at the age of eleven . There he made his debut in the first team in 2009 in the game against Bella Vista , was henceforth a regular player and was able to win the Primera División with his team straight away , where he contributed a goal in the first leg of the final against Defensor Sporting Club . In the same year, Nacional moved into the semi-finals of the Copa Libertadores , but failed there because of the eventual winner Estudiantes de La Plata from Argentina . In the following season Nacional won the Apertura, but had to admit defeat in the finals for the championship against Club Atlético Peñarol . In 2010/11, after winning the Clausura in the final, Nacional met Defensor Sporting again and prevailed 1-0 at the Estadio Centenario with a goal from Tabaré Viudez .

On August 30, 2011, coach Kenny Dalglish hired Sebastián Coates, who had meanwhile been christened by the fans Luganito based on the national team captain Diego Lugano, for Liverpool FC . On June 23, 2011 Coates made his debut under coach Óscar Tabarez in the friendly against Estonia for Uruguay's national team .
