Tiago Abiola Delfim Almeida Ilori (born February 26, 1993 in London ) is a Portuguese football player of British origin who has been under contract with Sporting Lisbon since January 2019 .

Club career

Tiago Ilori played for Sporting Lisbon from his youth . After playing through various youth teams of the Portuguese top club, he made his first appearances in the Primeira Liga in the 2011/12 season . He made his debut in the game against União Leiria on November 6, 2011. He came this season a total of twelve times in the first team and 20 times in the second team in the Segunda League to use.

In the summer of 2013 he moved to English first division club Liverpool for 8.25 million euros . After Ilori until the winter break completed a single game, it was established in January 2014 to end of the season in the Spanish La Liga at the Granada CF awarded.

On August 18, 2014, Ilori was loaned to Girondins Bordeaux in the French Ligue 1 until the end of the 2014/15 season. In addition to twelve Ligue 1 appearances, in which Ilori scored a goal, he came to a use in the second team in the fourth-rate CFA .

For the season 2015/16 Ilori initially returned to Liverpool, but came only two appearances in the U-21st On the last day of the 2015 summer transfer period , it was loaned to Aston Villa until the end of the season . Villa also secured a purchase option. Up until the beginning of January 2016, however, he only made three appearances in the U-21.

Due to an injury misery at Liverpool FC - with Dejan Lovren , Mamadou Sakho , Martin Škrtel and Kolo Touré , all four regular central defenders were out at the time - coach Jürgen Klopp ordered him back to Liverpool on January 8, 2016, after Ilori had not played a single game before Aston Villa had graduated. On the same day he made his debut in the shirt of Liverpool FC when he was in the starting line-up in the 2-2 draw in the third main round of the FA Cup against fourth division club Exeter City . In the first team, two more appearances in the FA Cup followed by the end of the season, and he also made six appearances in the U-21s.

After Ilori was only used in the U-23 in the 2016/17 season, he moved to the second division FC Reading on January 18, 2017 .

National team

Tiago Ilori played for several Portuguese youth national teams. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , he was part of the Portuguese squad .
