Marcus Maier (born December 18, 1995 in Vienna ) is an Austrian football player . He currently plays in central midfield for the Austrian Bundesliga club FC Admira Wacker Mödling .
Career
society
Maier began his career at FC Laxenburg . In 2005 he moved to SC Achau . In 2008 he came to the 1st SVg Guntramsdorf . During the winter break of the 2008/09 season, Maier moved to the youth team of FC Admira Wacker Mödling .
After initially playing in the Academy of Lower Austria, he made his debut in April 2013 for the Admira amateur team in the Regionalliga when he played against 1. SC Sollenau in the 57th minute for Florian Uhlig on matchday 16 of the 2012/13 season was substituted on.
In May 2014 Maier was also part of the professional squad for the first time. He made his Bundesliga debut in August 2014 when he was brought into play for Markus Lackner on the third match day of the 2014/15 season against SK Rapid Wien in the 77th minute . At the end of the season he had three appearances in the Bundesliga. He made his starting line-up debut for the Admira professionals in the following season in September 2015 in the cup match against SV Wallern . Three Bundesliga games followed that season before Maier was thwarted by a cruciate ligament rupture in April 2016.
After surviving an injury break, he made his comeback in March 2017 for the Admira amateurs in the regional league against FCM Traiskirchen . In that game he even acted as captain. In the same month he was finally able to score his first goal for Admira II when he scored 2-1 on matchday 19 in the 3: 4 defeat against SC-ESV Parndorf 1919 .
National team
Maier played for an Austrian national youth team for the first time in March 2015: In a test match between the U-20 team and Mexico , he was substituted on for Martin Rasner at half- time. With the U-20 selection, he also took part in the World Cup in the same year . With Austria he made it to the round of 16 at the World Cup. Maier was not used in any game.
