The sisters Katia (* March 11 ( according to other data: March 3 ) 1950 in Bayonne ) and Marielle (* 6. March 1952 in Bayonne) is a well-known French piano duo of the present.

Life

The daughters of the Italian piano teacher Ada Cecchi received piano lessons from their mother before attending the Conservatoire de Paris . Her wide-ranging repertoire includes works by Johann Sebastian Bach , Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart , Franz Liszt and George Gershwin to contemporary composers. Her recording of the original version for two pianos of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue received a gold record immediately after its publication in 1981 .

You have performed worldwide with the most important orchestras and conductors such as Riccardo Chailly , James Conlon , Sir Colin Davis , Charles Dutoit , Jesús López Cobos , Seiji Ozawa , Sir Simon Rattle , Esa-Pekka Salonen , Giuseppe Sinopoli , Leonard Slatkin and Michael Tilson Thomas .

In addition to participating in international festivals and appearing in major concert halls, they also worked with numerous television stations. Marielle Labèque is married to the conductor Semjon Bychkov .
