Mario Cagna

Mario Cagna (born October 8, 1911 in Lu Monferrato , Alessandria Province , Italy , † April 4, 1986 ) was a Roman Catholic Archbishop and diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

Mario Cagna received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Casale Monferrato on July 22, 1934 .

On October 13, 1962, Pope John XXIII appointed him . the titular archbishop of Heraclea in Europe , and it ordered the Apostolic Internuncio in Japan . The Cardinal Secretary of State Amleto Giovanni Cardinal Cicognani donated him episcopal ordination on November 18 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Casale Monferrato, Giuseppe Angrisani , and the secretary of the Congregation for the Extraordinary Mission of the Church, Archbishop Antonio Samorè .

On September 17, 1966, Pope Paul VI appointed him . to the Apostolic Delegate in Yugoslavia . Mario Cagna became Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Yugoslavia on August 22, 1970 . On May 11, 1976 Paul VI appointed him. to the Apostolic Nuncio in Austria .

Cagna resigned as Apostolic Nuncio in Austria in November 1984.

Mario Cagna attended the second, third and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
