Mario Carrillo (born January 1, 1956 in Mexico City ) is a retired Mexican soccer player who has worked as a coach since 1999 .

Life

Carrillo took over the post of head coach at Puebla FC for the first time in 1999 and reached with his team in the summer tournament of 2001 (second half of the 2000/01 season) the semi-finals of the Mexican championship , in which Puebla was defeated by the eventual winner UNAM Pumas . He came back to Puebla FC before the start of Apertura 2003 through short-term engagements at Club America and its city ​​rival Cruz Azul and then moved again to Club America, with whom he won his only championship title as coach in the Clausura in 2005 . In the 2006/07 season he coached the UANL Tigres and then signed again with Puebla FC.

After his third engagement in Puebla, as assistant coach to Javier Aguirre , he was in charge of the Mexican national team at the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2009 , which was won by a 5-0 final victory over the host USA, and at the 2010 World Cup .
