José Moncebáez (born August 8, 1918 in Mexico City , † March 3, 2009 ibid), also known by the nickname Don Monche , was a Mexican football coach and player on the position of goalkeeper .
Life
Stations as a player
Coach Guillermo Aguilas Álvarez brought Moncebáez to Club Atlante in 1940 as a substitute goalkeeper for the legendary Raúl "Pipiolo" Estrada . In 1942 Moncebáez moved to city rivals America . He later played for Marte and Zacatepec . With the latter club he won the second division championship in the 1950/51 season and made it to the Primera División .
Stations as a trainer
Even with his debut as coach of the Reboceros de La Piedad in the 1951/52 season, he immediately won the second division championship and thus managed to move up to the Primera División a year after this success as a player as a coach. He posted another success in the 1966/67 season , in the preliminary round he had coached Deportivo Toluca FC , which won his first championship title at the end of the same season under Ignacio Trelles .
In the 1970/71 season he saved the Diablos Blancos de Torreón from relegation and in the following season he was in charge of CF Laguna , which was the other first division team in the northern Mexican city of Torreón .
In early 1979 he was in charge of the Mexican national team for their three friendly matches against the Soviet Union, which ended with an overall result of 2-2: a 1-0 win on January 6 and a 0-1 defeat on January 31 on February 8, 1979 a 1: 1. He then looked after the Mexican U-20 national team at the 1979 World Youth Championship .
His last position as head coach was Monarcas Morelia , whose first division team he looked after from January to November 1982.
