Mellow Mark
Mellow Mark (* 23. May 1974 in Reutlingen ), actually Mark Schlumberger, is a German Rap - Reggae - and Soul - musicians .
Life
Mark Schlumberger grew up in Tübingen and Bayreuth . His musical career began in the early 1990s in the Bayreuth school band The Fake , with whom he performed at the first Bayreuth pub festival in 1993. Since 1997 he has been a resident of Hamburg by choice and lived in Berlin for a short time . Today he lives with his family on a farm near Potsdam .
Career
Mellow Mark combines different styles of music in his music, including reggae, singer-songwriter , world music , hip-hop , ska , soul and agit-rock. Some texts are politically motivated and socially critical.
In 1999 he worked under the name Loewenherz and was under contract with RCA / BMG . The video singles Bis In Die Ewigkeit and La Luna were shown on the music channel VIVA and were in the charts for several weeks. After a phase of street music, he was signed to the Berlin hip-hop label Rap.de. He combined guitar and rap into his own mix. He was under contract with Warner Music and is now the artist for the Berlin label homeground , which publishes records by the artists Martin Jondo and Culcha Candela , among others . His career is characterized by his commitment to the fight against war, right-wing extremism, global injustice and for a better climate. Countless stage shows have taken him from Germany, Austria and Switzerland to Thailand, Cuba, Russia, Morocco, Costa Rica, Senegal / Mauritania, Sardinia, Egypt, Iraq, South Africa and Serbia.
In 2002 he released the EP Revolution . At the 2003 Echo Awards, Mellwo Mark received the National Radio Young Talent Award. In 2003 the globalization-critical single Weltweit followed , which was often played on VIVA during the Iraq war , as well as the album Sturm , produced by Kraans de Lutin . In 2005 he received the prize for the best album at the German Reggae Awards for his CD Das 5te Element . In early August 2007 his third album Metropolis was released. The highlight of this phase was the collaboration with the Schumann Camerata chamber orchestra.
In March 2009 the musicians Mellow & Pyro released the album Ratz Fatz Peng on their own label Pyromusic . The song “ greenhouse effect” was voted climate song of the year. In October 2009 Mellow Mark's first live DVD Mellow Maroc Live & Unplugged was released , on which Rhani Krija and Momo Djender , among others members of the band von Sting , took part. Since 2009 Mellow Mark has been giving songwriting workshops regularly, including at the Bavarian Music Academy in Hammelburg. In 2010 Mellow Mark's fans on the Internet chose the songs for the so-called “supporter album” Besides . Berlincito featuring PyroMerz came in first among 60, some of them as B-sides, features or unpublished snippet songs . The cover was also designed by supporters.
In 2011 the EP Bye Bye Babylon was released online , which initially caused a stir with the ironic song title Mellow Mark is dead . Since autumn 2011 Mellow Mark has been on tour regularly with his “One Man Show”. In addition to a loop station , he plays drums and guitar at the same time, sings and creates melodies with a megaphone. In 2012 he released Bye Bye Babylon on CD and released all of the EP's songs as video clips. In September 2012, Mellow Mark sang along with Nina Maleika the duet Stay with me at the Federal Vision Song Contest 2012 as a contribution of the State of Brandenburg and took there place 16. In collaboration with Radio Gong Würzburg created Mellow Mark the city anthem Maine town , which in 2012 the best-selling CD was in the Würzburg region. The Goethe-Institut Dakar published the music documentary L'islam c'est la paix .
In 2013, Mellow Mark released the feature Wake Up with Cris Cosmo . With a crowdfunding campaign, he went on the so-called "Live Album Recording Tour". During this tour, the recordings for the live album LIEBE Live , which was released in December 2013, were made. The first single 1st Lady from this album was released as a YouTube video in June 2013. The second single, Egal - live from Fehmarn , was released in July 2013. In October 2013, Mellow Mark went on a concert tour to Iraq with his trio Mellow Maroc. In 2014 ALLE EINS was released, a collaboration with the singer Youngstarr, Viva Con Agua Freiburg, AIM (African Information Movement) and many African, mostly Ghanaian artists.
In 2015 Mellow Mark released the album Roots & Flügel together with House of Riddim from Austria with many feature guests, e.g. B. Miwata , Jahcoustix, Don Caramellow von Raggabund, Ganjaman. He accompanied the dancer and acrobat Tarek al Turk from Syria after his escape from the war and cast him in the video Refuge / Welcome Refugees . Stephen Keise and Son of Slaves are featured on the video single UNITE , the song unites a Jew, a Christian, a Muslim and a Buddhist and is a musical message against division and hatred. The video single Elefanten features singer Crosby Bolani from Cape Town as a guest and the video single Weltweit Stasi addresses the issue of NSA in a satirical way. In 2016, Mellow Mark was a guest on Cris Cosmo's video single The Others and toured with his album Roots & Flügel .
In 2017 Mellow Mark released the video single Divide & Rule with an animated cartoon video by Youtuber Jester and the radio single Happy Morning Song ft Bassix . The album Nomade was released in June 2017. In the same year, the singer took part under his real name Mark Schlumberger in the seventh season of the singing casting show The Voice of Germany and was eliminated in the "Battle Round".
