Marlon Módolo Zanotelli (born June 19, 1988 in Imperatriz , Maranhão ) is a Brazilian show jumper who lives in Belgium . He achieved his greatest success by winning gold medals in individual and team competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games .

Career

In 1996 he rode his first tournament and in 1998 he became the Brazilian junior champion. In 2002 he was runner-up with the South American team and in 2004 he was team world champion with Brazil.

In April 2008 he came to Europe for the first time and worked for the rider Ludo Philippaerts in Belgium. From 2011 to 2016 he worked as a rider in Bocholt, Belgium . Since then, he and his wife have been running a stable independently.

After Módolo Zanotelli finished fifth in the 2014 World Equestrian Games with the Brazilian team in 2014 , the Brazilians narrowly missed medal ranks at the 2015 Pan American Games . Módolo Zanotelli was part of the Brazilian team in Toronto with Rock'n Roll Semilly .

After Módolo Zanotelli had already won gold with Brazil's team at the Pan American Games 2019 with Sirene de la Motte , he was the only rider to remain without mistakes in the individual finals. With this he also secured the individual gold medal.

In July 2019 he was in 33rd place in the world rankings.

Private

Marlon Módolo Zanotelli comes from an equestrian family. His father and grandfather taught at the military police in Maranhão . His three brothers are also active in sports.

On June 13, 2015 he married the Swedish show jumper Angelica Augustsson in Belgium. Their daughter was born in February 2016.
