Marquardt is a district of Potsdam that lies north of the center. Around 1100 people live in Marquardt. The previously independent municipality was incorporated into Potsdam on October 26, 2003 as part of the Brandenburg municipal area reform.

location

Geography and characteristics of the environment

Marquardt is located in the Havelland in the area of the northern Wublitz lowlands , in a landscape shaped by the Vistula Ice Age (the last ice age in northern Germany ). The area is rich in water, agriculture dominates (depending on the quality of the soil, arable farming or cattle breeding ), the area is occasionally interspersed with a few small pieces of forest . The soil is either sandy or (on ground moraines ) also loamy. In the south, the areas shaped by water predominate, in the north more and more relief differences come to light - the land becomes more hilly.

traffic

Marquardt can be reached via the A 10 , exit Potsdam-Nord, and the federal road 273 (the latter runs east of the town on the other side of the railway line of the Berlin outer ring ).

Marquardt is located on the Jüterbog – Nauen railway line and on the outer ring of Berlin and is now connected to the regional train (line 21 Potsdam - Golm - Wustermark ) and is part of the Potsdam bus network. Marquardt is in the Potsdam B or Berlin C zone.
The place only received a train station on August 17, 1937, although the tracks of the bypass railway already passed the place in 1902. The breakpoint was first on the Sacrow-Paretz Canal and was relocated to its current location on Fahrländer Straße after 1945.

Marquardt is north of the Sacrow-Paretz Canal , but has no port. The bridge over the canal to the south towards Schlänitzsee and Grube was renovated in 2003 and is also equipped with a pedestrian crossing.
