Martijn Vink (born August 6, 1974 in Culemborg ) is a Dutch drummer and composer of creative jazz . He was rated as “the best jazz drummer in the Netherlands” ( De Telegraaf ) and “the most resourceful drummer from the Netherlands” ( de Volkskrant ).

Vink was allowed to join Eric Vloeimans at the Rotterdam jazz café Thelonious at a young age ; at the Hilversum Conservatory he received drum lessons from Cees Kranenburg. In 1996 he started his career as a professional musician and initially played with Jesse van Ruller , Ben van den Dungen , Jarmo Hoogendijk , Jasper Blom and Benjamin Herman . He also formed a permanent rhythm group with bassist Frans van Geest. In 2002 he became a member of the Brussels Jazz Orchestra , where he worked with Dave Liebman , Kenny Werner and Maria Schneider . Then Tineke Postma and Martijn van Iterson brought him into their groups. From 2005 he worked in various groups with Anton Goudsmit and Efraim Trujillo , of which The Ploctones became very successful. In Metropole Orkest he was involved in productions with Pat Metheny , Yuri Honing and Elvis Costello , some of which were also released on phonograms. He also performed with Jeffrey Bruinsma , Louk Boudesteijn, Rob van de Wouw and Harmen Fraanje ; at the North Sea Jazz Festival 2010 he accompanied Chris Potter . He also belonged to the band of rock singer Anouk and can be heard on albums by Philip Catherine , Florian Ross and Till Brönner .

Vink is a professor of drums at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam .
