description

The hall church with a 32 meter high church tower in the west and a just closing choir in the east was built around 1500 on the foundation walls of the previous church that burned down in 1417, including parts that have been preserved, e.g. B. also remnants of tracery windows rebuilt from rubble stones . This year can be found on the portal on the north side. Its most striking feature is the church tower with its eight-sided pointed helmet , which is 18 meters high ; at the corners of the square foot there are small four-sided helmets. The church was renovated several times, mainly in 1845/46. The choir, originally drawn in on both sides, protrudes through the reduced width of the nave in the south.

The nave was spanned with a wooden barrel vault in 1908 . The two-story galleries have different construction times. They are continued in the south into the flat-roofed choir and run around there on a single storey. Its parapets were painted with scenes from the New Testament in the 18th and 19th centuries . There are pictures of apostles and martyrs in the choir gallery . In the choir is a ceiling painting depicting the Trinity .

The altarpiece is from the beginning of the 17th century, in the shrine in the middle there is a late Gothic relief showing the lamentation of Christ . It was created around 1480/90 in Erfurt. The current color version was only created in 1975. There are reliefs of the Annunciation and the Resurrection in the wings . The wooden pulpit from 1608 stands in the northeast. The pulpit is carried by a statue of Moses . On the parapet there are carved figures of Christ, the four evangelists and Paul in niches between columns . The sound cover has statuettes of the Risen One and the twelve apostles . To the east behind the pulpit is an extension for the sacristy from 1697.

On the east wall of the nave is a panel painting by the painter Conrad von Soest in a soft style , created around 1420/30. It is still not clear how this work of art found its way into the church. The picture is made up of three parts. In the middle it shows the crucifixion , on the sides Simon and Bartholomäus , each under painted canopies . On the north wall there is a crucifix above a wooden column from around 1500. The baroque organ front is on the eastern choir gallery . The organ with 17 registers , divided into 2 manuals and pedal , was built in 1909 by Wilhelm Rühlmann.
