Matzutkehmen (1938 to 1946 Wellenhausen ) was a village in the district of Goldap and the administrative district of Gumbinnen in the former East Prussia . The village belonged to the parish of Szittkehmen and was located about 29.7 km northeast of Goldap.
history
Matzutkehmen resp. On March 18, 1874, Wellenhausen was incorporated into the newly established district of Kallweitschen (1938 to 1946 Kornberg , Russian: Priosjornoje, no longer existent), which belonged to the Goldap district in the Gumbinnen district of the Prussian province of East Prussia .
Due to its location directly on the shore of Lake Wystiter and thus on the border between what was then East Prussia and Lithuania , smuggled goods were often transported across the lake . During the Second World War, the village was completely destroyed and not rebuilt.

Geographical location
The village was on the western bank of the Wystiter See in the northern part of what was then East Prussia , which is now in the Kaliningrad Oblast ( Koenigsberg region (Prussia) ). The location would be today in the area of the rural community Prigorodnoje (Petrikatschen , 1938-1946 Schützenort) , which belongs to the Nesterow Rajon ( Stallupönen district, Ebenrode district from 1939 to 1945 ).

Matzutkehmen (Wellenhausen) with its predominantly Protestant population belonged to the parish of Szittkehmen until 1945 (1936–1938 Schittkehmen , 1938–1946 fortified churches , today Polish: Żytkiejmy) in the parish of Goldap (Polish: Gołdap) within the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union .
