church
Church building
The village church in the present Newskoje is a hall building from 1778 on the foundations of the previous church from 1565. The tower substructure was built in 1686, the superstructure from 1778. The tower end from 1816 was renewed in 1914 after being destroyed in the war.
The church withstood the fighting in 1944/1945. However, in Soviet times it was used to store artificial fertilizers and the building fabric fell into disrepair. In 1994, the residents of the village cleared and cleaned the building. With financial support from Germany, the building could be repaired. In August 1994 the first service took place in the building, which is now used as a church again.
Parish
Pillupönen, with its predominantly Protestant population, belonged to the Insterburg Inspection (Russian: Tschernjachowsk) until 1725 , then came with its parish to the church district of Stallupönen / Ebenrode in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union .
During the period of Soviet socialism, church life in Nevskoye came to a complete standstill. It was not until the 1990s that a Protestant congregation emerged again on the initiative of resettled Russian Germans , which, together with the neighboring town of Tschernjachowo ( Erlenhagen ), became part of the newly formed provost of Kaliningrad in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of European Russia (ELCER). The responsible rectory is that of the Salzburg church in Gussew ( Gumbinnen ), in which two clergy are active.
