Tschapajewo ( Russian Чапаево , German Wabbeln, Stallupönen (Ebenrode) district ) is a village in the Russian Oblast of Kaliningrad . It belongs to the local government unit Stadtkreis Nesterov in Nesterovsky District .

geography

Tschapajewo is located in the northeast of Nesterow Rajon on the small river Trübe ( Schöckstuppe , Russian Tschelna ), a tributary of the Rauschwe (Russian Tumannaja ), only two kilometers from the Russian-Lithuanian border. The village can be reached via a country road from Nesterow (10 kilometers) via Lugowoje ( Bilderweitschen / Bilderweitschen , 3 kilometers). In addition, a country road leads via Lugowoje to Chernyshevskoje (Eydtkuhnen / Eydtkau , 8 kilometers) and on to Kybartai in Lithuania (10 kilometers).

The next train station is Nesterow on the Kaliningrad – Chernyshevskoye railway line for onward travel to Lithuania (section of the former Prussian Eastern Railway ).

Place name

The place name Wabbeln , also: Groß Wabbeln, occurred several times in East Prussia. There is also the Russian place name Tschapajewo in the Kaliningrad Oblast and also in the rest of Russia several times.

history

Wabbeln was one of ten rural communities or estate districts that formed the newly established Sodargen district on June 24, 1874 , a village on the connecting road (27K-065) between Stallupönen and Schirwindt . In 1910 there were 168 inhabitants, 163 in 1933 and 176 in 1939.

Until 1945 Wabbeln belonged to the district of Stallupönen (1938–1946 Ebenrode ) in the administrative district of Gumbinnen in the Prussian province of East Prussia .

As a result of the Second World War , Wabbeln came under Soviet administration. In 1947 the place received the Russian name Tschapajewo and was assigned at the same time to the village soviet Lugowski selski Sowet in the Nesterow district . In 1954 the place came to the Prigorodny selski Sowet . From 2008 to 2018, Chapayevo belonged to the rural municipality of Prigorodnoje selskoje posselenije and since then to the urban district of Nesterow.

church

Before 1945, the Protestant church members of Wabbeln in the parish of Bilderweitschen (1938–1946 Bilderweitschen , today Russian: Lugowoje) in the parish of Stallupönen (1938–1946 Ebenrode ) in the church province of East Prussia were parished by the Church of the Old Prussian Union . The last German clergyman was Pastor Hellmut Graemer . The local Catholic residents also belonged to the parish in Bilderweitschen / Bilderweitschen in the Diocese of Warmia .

While all church activity was prohibited during the time of the Soviet Union , a new evangelical congregation was formed in the neighboring village of Babushkino ( Groß Degesen ) in the 1990s , which joined the Kaliningrad provost in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of European Russia (ELCER). The clergy responsible are the pastors at the Salzburg church in Gussew (Gumbinnen).
