Neschinskoje ( Russian Нежинское , German Neu Kattenau ) is a small town in the Russian Oblast of Kaliningrad . It belongs to the local government unit Stadtkreis Nesterov in Nesterovsky District .

Geographical location

Neschinskoje lies in the northwest of the Rajon Nesterow two kilometers east of Furmanowka (Alt Kattenau / Neu Trakehnen) north of the Bolshoi Torfjanoi Bugor (literally "Big Torfhügel", German Packledimmer Moor , also Teufelsmoor ).

history

Neu Kattenau was a Vorwerk of Gut Kattenau (today Russian to Furmanowka). Until 1945 it belonged to the district of Stallupönen (1938–1945 district of Ebenrode ) in the administrative district of Gumbinnen in the Prussian province of East Prussia .

After 1945 Neu Kattenau came under Soviet administration. In 1950 the place received the Russian name "Neschinskoje" and was assigned at the same time to the village soviet Savetinsky selski Sowet in Nesterow district . From 2008 to 2018 the place belonged to the rural community Ilyushinskoje selskoje posselenije and since then to the urban district of Nesterow.

The predominantly Protestant population of Neu Kattenau was parish before 1945 in the parish of Kattenau (today Russian: Sawety). It belonged to the Stallupönen church district (1938–1946 Ebenrode , Russian: Nesterow) in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union . The last German clergyman was Pastor Klaus Wegner .

Today the next evangelical parish is in Yasnaya Polyana ( Groß Trakehnen ), which belongs to the Kaliningrad provost of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of European Russia (ELKER). The responsible rectory is that of the Salzburg Church in Gussew ( Gumbinnen ).
