Maw Mamyrow
Mäulen Satymbajuly Mamyrow ( Kazakh Мәулен Сатымбайұлы Мамыров , born December 14, 1970 in Taldyqorghan ) is a former Soviet or Kazakh wrestler . He won a bronze free style flyweight medal at the 1996 Olympics .
Career
Mäulen Mamyrow, whose origins are little known, began wrestling as a teenager in 1984. He concentrated entirely on the free style. In 1988 he started wrestling for the Soviet Union at the Junior World Championships in Wolfurt, Austria , where he came in 3rd place in the weight class up to 46 kg body weight. He did not come to other missions for the Soviet Union at international championships. After the collapse of the Soviet Union , he decided to start for Kazakhstan in the future. He was accepted into the local national team of wrestlers and coached by A. Bugubaev. The only 1.60 m tall athlete always started in the flyweight class, which at the time had its weight limit of 52 kg.
For Kazakhstan he started for the first time at the Asian Championship in Ulaanbaatar in 1993 and finished there in 4th place. In 1994 he took part in a world championship and came 11th in Istanbul . In 1994 he won the Asian Games in Hiroshima in front of Dege Dun, China and Nurdin Donbajew from Kyrgyzstan , but at the World Cup that year in Atlanta he again failed to achieve a top place and ended up in 12th place.
In 1996 Mäulen Mamyrow missed a medal at the Asian Championships in Xiaoshan with the 4th place, but he surprised at the Olympic Games in Atlanta, because there he won the flyweight after a victory over Wolodymyr Tohusow from Belarus , a defeat against world champions Valentin Jordanow from Bulgaria , who held himself in the frame with 3: 7 points and victories over Metin Topaktaş from Turkey and Chechen-ool Mongush from Russia , whom he narrowly held down with 3: 2 points, a bronze medal.
Mäulen Mamyrow proved that this success was not a flash in the pan just a year later at the 1997 World Cup in Krasnoyarsk , where he won against Oleksandr Sacharjuk , Ukraine, Tümendembereliin Dsüünbajan , Mongolia , a defeat against Jin Ju-dong , North Korea and a victory The fight for a bronze medal in the World Cup via Gholamreza Mohammadi from Iran , in which he met Oleksandr Sacharjuk again and clearly defeated him with 7: 1 points.
In 1998 and 1999 he performed a little weaker at the World Championships. In 1998 he reached 11th place in Tehran after victories over Vitalie Railean from Moldova and Oleksandr Sacharjuk and defeats against Samuel Henson from the United States and Shanka Patel Kripa from India and in 1999 he came in Ankara with victories over Kim Woo-yong from South Korea, Namiq Abdullayev from Azerbaijan and Haibo Zhang from China and a defeat against Adhamjon Achilov from Uzbekistan , which was only achieved by a judge's decision with a tie of 2: 2, came in 7th. In 1999 he won the Asian Games for the second time in Tashkent , leaving Han Yong-do from North Korea and Adhamjon Achilov behind.
At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 he clearly won on points over Adhamjon Achilov (10: 5) and Wassili Zeiher from Germany (8: 1), but lost to Herman Kantojeu and Oleksandr Sacharjuk and thus finished 6th. The last year he was active on the international wrestling mat was in 2002. Before that, he reached 4th place at the 2001 World Cup in Sofia , losing to Aljaksandr Kantojeu from Russia in the battle for the bronze medal . He came in the same place at the 2002 Asian Games in Busan.
