Maximilian Götz (born February 4, 1986 in Ochsenfurt ) is a German automobile racing driver . Götz competed in the ADAC GT Masters from 2010 to 2014 and won the drivers' championship there in 2012. In 2014 he won the Blancpain Sprint Series . In 2015 and 2016 Götz competed in the DTM .

Career

Götz began his motorsport career in karting in 1996 , in which he remained active until 2001. In 2002 Götz switched to formula racing for Mücke Motorsport and started in the German Formula BMW . Götz won three races and was second behind Nico Rosberg with 183 to 264 points . Internally, he prevailed against Thomas Holzer , who achieved sixth overall with 130 points. In 2003 Götz contested his second season in the German Formula BMW for Mücke Motorsport. Götz won six races and won the championship. With 259 to 216 points, he prevailed in the title fight against Sebastian Vettel .

In 2004 Götz switched to the Formula 3 Euro Series at TME . For the last event he switched to Team Kolles . He scored his first points in the Formula 3 Euro Series for this team. He finished the season in 19th place in the overall standings. In 2005 Götz initially competed in the Formula 3 Euro Series for HBR Motorsport . After the fourth race weekend, he lost his cockpit. For the last race he returned to the Formula 3 Euro Series and represented Adrian Sutil at ASM Motorsport . Already at his first start he achieved third place. In the drivers' standings, he improved to 14th place.

After a year break, Götz changed to the international Formula Masters 2007 season at ISR Racing . After the third race weekend, he lost his cockpit. Up until then, he had achieved pole position in every qualifying session and two second places in the races. At the end of the season he was tenth overall. Götz then took part in four events as a guest starter in the Formula 3 Euro Series for RC Motorsport . In 2008 Götz was again active as a regular driver in the Formula 3 Euro Series. However, he left RC Motorsport and the series after the fourth race weekend. He was 22nd in the drivers' championship.

In 2009 Götz switched to GT racing. He initially took part in three races of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo and achieved seventh place in the Pro classification. In 2010 Götz switched to the ADAC GT Masters and competed for s-Berg Racing at an event. In 2011 Götz contested the full ADAC GT Masters season for various teams. With a third place as the best result, he finished the season in 20th place overall. In 2012 Götz and Sebastian Asch competed for the kfzteile24 MS Racing Team in a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 in the ADAC GT Masters. Götz and Asch won only one race, but decided the championship with a total of eight podium finishes in 16 races.

In 2013 Götz switched to HTP Motorsport , which started this year under the name Polarweiss Racing . Götz formed a driver duo with Maximilian Buhk . The two won a race and came third in the drivers' championship. In 2013 Götz also took part in two races in the Blancpain Endurance Series for HTP Motorsport. Together with Buhk and Bernd Schneider , he won both races. Together with Schneider, Götz took second place in the GT3 Pro Cup, which Buhk, who had taken part in one more race, won. In 2014 Götz was again active in several series for HTP Motorsport. In the 2014 ADAC GT Masters season he drove with changing teammates and came fifth in the drivers' championship. In the Blancpain Sprint Series 2014 Götz won three races together with Buhk and came second four times. Buhk was represented at one race by Nico Verdonck . Götz and Verdonk achieved third place. Götz won the drivers' standings with 142 to 126 points against Buhk. Götz also completed a race in the Blancpain Endurance Series 2014 .

In 2015 Götz returned to Mücke Motorsport and competed in the DTM in a Mercedes . He chose the 84 as his starting number. With a fifth place as the best placement, he finished the season in 22nd place overall. For the 2016 DTM season , Götz switched to HWA within the Mercedes teams . A fourth place was his best result and he finished 20th in the drivers' championship.
