Mechthild Bach (singer)
Mechthild Bach (* 1963 or 1970 in Limburg an der Lahn ) is a German opera singer ( soprano ).
Live and act
The soprano Mechthild Bach studied at the Frankfurt University of Music with Elsa Cavelti . She also learned from Hartmut Höll , Laura Sarti and Vera Rosza.
Conductors who work regularly with her are Frieder Bernius , Marcus Creed , Uwe Gronostay , Reinhard Goebel , Konrad Junghänel , Ton Koopman , Sigiswald Kuijken , Helmuth Rilling , Michael Schneider and others. Early music as one of the focal points in her work is also expressed in her participation in the solo vocal ensemble Cantus Cölln .
On the opera stage she made her debut at the Staatstheater Darmstadt . Later she was engaged at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf and Duisburg. From 1990 she worked at the theater of the city of Heidelberg . At the Halle Opera House she sang Antigona in Handel's Admeto 2006. At the Lucerne Theater in 2007 she played Alice Ford in Giuseppe Verdi's Falstaff , and in 2008/2009 Countess Elisabeth in Ernst Krenek's Kehraus um St. Stephan . In 2010 she worked on Robert Schumann's Manfred in the Tonhalle Düsseldorf .
Mechthild Bach has contributed to over 30 recordings as well as numerous radio recordings. She teaches as a lecturer at the Trossingen University of Music . She is married to the conductor Eckart Manke and lives in Constance .
Awards
- 1986: Scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation .
- 1993: Innsbruck Radio Prize for Early Music, for Thomaskantors before Bach with Cantus Cölln.
- 2002: German Record Critics' Prize , for Missa Dei Patris von Zelenka with Frieder Bernius.
