Michael Coney

Michael Coney Greatrex (born on 28. September 1932 in Birmingham , died on 4. November 2005 in Saanichton , Saanich Peninsula , British Columbia ) was a British-Canadian science fiction - author .

Life

Michael Coney came from England and initially trained as an accountant. He then ran a pub in Devon and later a hotel on the Caribbean island of Antigua . In the late 1960s, he began publishing science fiction novels and stories. His most famous works include Hello Summer, Goodbye (German edition: The summer goes ), Brontomek! , for which he received the British Science Fiction Association Award in 1976 , and Tea and Hamsters , which was nominated for the Nebula Award in 1995 . In 1972 he moved to Canada with his wife Daphne and their two children. He lived with Sidney on Vancouver Island and worked from 1973 until his retirement in 1989 as a ranger for the forest administration of the province of British Columbia. Michael Coney died of lung cancer on November 4, 2005 at the age of 73.
