Johann Jakob Michael Küchel
Johann Jakob Michael Küchel (* 19th August 1703 in Bamberg , † 2. June 1769 ibid) was a German architect of the rococo .
Küchel, a student of the architect Maximilian von Welsch , was appointed his court architect by Bishop Friedrich Carl Graf von Schönborn , the Bishop of Bamberg . Along with Leonhard Dientzenhofer and Balthasar Neumann, he is considered the third great architect from Bamberg. In 1737 he went to Regensburg , Nuremberg , Dresden , Berlin , Munich , Vienna , Raab , Ofen , Pest , Pressburg and Bohemia on behalf of Prince-Bishop Friedrich Karlto study the Rococo architecture there. His travel diary is preserved in the Bamberg State Archives and is considered to be one of the most important comprehensive travelogues from the beginning of the 18th century.
