Ministry of Security
The Ministry of Security is a ministry for state security agents ( public security , hence also the Ministry of public security ). The relevant minister is usually called the security minister .
Security ministries encompass either all security matters, i.e. internal security as well as external security ( military , border protection and the like), which is typical for smaller states. They then represent a combined interior and defense ministries. On the other hand, there can also be special ministries for specific security issues, for example for all civilian forces (BOS , police, customs, judiciary, etc.) or individual groups of these: special forms are the police ministry , the Ministry of Civil Protection or the authorities responsible for intelligence ( secret service matters), which are often also called the Ministry of Information .
In German, for example, there is the term Ministry of State Security , which particularly refers to domestic police and secret service work in less stable states, or - anciently - also homeland security , an expression that is reused by the US term homeland security for anti-terrorism measures of the 2000s becomes.
