Miss Intercontinental

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Miss Intercontinental is an international beauty pageant for unmarried women, which until 2000 was the fourth largest in the world after Miss World , Miss Universe and Miss International . The competition for Miss Earth , which has been held since 2001, has a higher number of participants and pushed him to fifth place.

The organization was founded in 1971 and the first winner was Magnolia Martinez from Peru.

Miss Intercontinental was founded for female adolescents and was initially called Miss Teenage Intercontinental in 1973 . In 1979 the name was shortened to Miss Teen Intercontinental .

It has not been a teenage competition until 1982 and has had its current name since then.

The organizers changed several times: from 1971 to 1983 it was a company in Aruba , from 1986 to 1991 a company in Nigeria , then the Festival of Beauty, based in Los Angeles, held the event with a German organizer. In 1996 the WBO was founded with Guillermo Bobbio from Panama who died in 2002. In 2003 the company was taken over by Luis Pitti Sagrera, who is also based in Panama. In 2016 Manoj Chatlani took over the company in Panama and has been operating under the Miss Intercontinental Organization (MIO) since then. In 2018 the competition will take place in Manila, Philippines for the first time.
