Moestafa El Kabir ( Arabic مصطفى الكبير; * October 5, 1988 in Targuist ) is a Dutch - Moroccan football player .

Career

Born in Morocco, El Kabir grew up in the Netherlands, where his father worked. He started playing in organized club football late and was initially with Blauw-Wit Amsterdam in his youth, before moving to the youth department of the then record champions Ajax Amsterdam in 2005 . Later he went to competitor Feyenoord Rotterdam . After an abdominal muscle injury, he did not get a chance there and had to pause for half a year because of an operation. He joined NEC Nijmegen through FC Utrecht .

At NEC Nijmegen El Kabir made his debut in November 2008 in the game against NAC Breda in the Eredivisie . Until the end of the season he was used irregularly and was able to fight for a regular place in midfield thanks to good performances in preparation for the 2009/10 season . However, he was repeatedly noticed by lack of discipline, which ultimately culminated in his suspension in February 2010. To date, he had played 21 league games for the club from Gelderland, but remained in the championship without a goal.

In March 2010 El Kabir joined the Swedish first division promoted Mjällby AIF , where he signed a two and a half year contract. In the Allsvenskan he quickly became a regular and played alongside Marcus Ekenberg , Tobias Grahn , Patrik Rosengren and Mattias Asper up to the end of the season in 24 games. With ten goals this season, he was instrumental in ensuring that the club, traded as a relegation candidate, was able to place in the top third of the table. At the beginning of the following season he was also dangerous, as early as April the Italian club Cagliari Calcio signed him on loan until the summer of 2012 and agreed a purchase option. However, he was also unable to convince in Serie A due to an injury , he only played seven games during the entire season and scored one goal. He returned to Mjällby AIF in the summer. By September he played the first five games after the summer break, before he was injured in the game against Gefle IF and was out until the end of the season.

Shortly after the end of the 2012 season , El Kabir signed a three-year contract with league rivals BK Häcken , replacing top scorer Abdul Majeed Waris, who had migrated to Russia . He fulfilled the expectations placed on him by those responsible at the Gothenburg Club on the first days of the 2013 season and immediately topped the list of goalscorers. In August, however, he injured himself and fell out until shortly before the end of the season, so that he ultimately lost the lead and finished fourth, three goals behind Imad Khalili, who was successful with 15 goals this season. At the same time, the club slipped into the relegation battle of the Allsvenskan, the runner-up finished the season in tenth place in the table. After his recovery he was also a successful goalscorer in the following season.

In the summer of 2014, El Kabir left Sweden and joined the Saudi club al-Ahli, where, according to media reports, he signed a two-year contract with an option to extend.

In the winter transfer period 2014/15 El Kabir moved to Turkey to the first division club Gençlerbirliği Ankara . Here he was noticed in the summer of 2016 in the preparation phase for the new season due to indiscipline and was therefore suspended from the team. A little later he switched to Sagan Tosu .

In the second half of the 2016/17 season he was signed by the Turkish first division club Antalyaspor . From the end of March 2018 to the end of May 2018 El Kabir played again on loan for BK Häcken. For the 2018/19 season he moved to MKE Ankaragücü . He left this club in March 2019 and then joined Kalmar FF .
