Mogadouro is a small town ( Vila ) and a district ( Concelho ) in Portugal with 3572 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
history
Finds prove a local settlement back to prehistoric times, for example the rock paintings from the Copper Age or a hill fort ( Port .: Castro ) from the Iron Age . Settlement remains from the 4th century BC Were excavated in a hill. During the Roman rule the place belonged to the province of Hispania citerior . After the invasion of the Germanic tribes, Visigoths and Suebi left only a few traces here, as in the rest of their empires, including some grave sites.
Mogadouro received its first town charter ( Foral ) in 1272 from King D.Afonso III. Which in 1297 by King D.Dinis were confirmed. In 1311 the place was handed over to the order of Christ , which was in the process of being established , as part of the prohibition of the Templar Order . In 1512 King Manuel I renewed the town charter .

Various historical public buildings and sacred buildings are listed, as are the remains of the castle ( Castelo de Mogadouro ) from the 12th century. The historic town center as a whole is also protected.
In the Casa das Artes o Ofícios (Eng .: House of Arts and Crafts), where the Tourist Office ( Turismo ) is also housed, exhibition rooms and studios, music and dance practice rooms, and a ballroom are set up. Regional handicrafts are exhibited here, some of which are also made publicly and offered for sale.
