Ulrich von Montpreis
Ulrich von Montpreis († November 10, 1330 ) was Bishop of Chiemsee from 1322 to 1330 .
Life
Ulrich came from the family of the Lords of Schärfenberg (today: Svibno ) in Carniola , who were ministerials of the Counts of Görz , through his father . Since his mother, whose ancestors were Salzburger Ministeriale, was a born Montpreis , with whom the dominion of Montpreis ( formerly Lower Styria, today Planina in Slovenia ) came to the Lords of Schärfenberg, Ulrich used the maternal predicate of Montpreis . From 1304 he was Canon of Salzburg , in 1318 he held the office of procurator when collecting the papal tithe .
After the death of the Chiemsee Bishop Adalbert von Fohnsdorf , the Salzburg Archbishop Friedrich III. von Leibnitz Ulrich von Montpreis as his successor. Like his predecessors, he was auxiliary bishop in Salzburg and also held the office of Salzburg vicar general . After the Battle of Mühldorf , the Archbishop assigned him extraordinary tasks to repair the damage. The churches of Anger , Höglwörth , Mauthausen , Piding and Aufham , which were profaned by the armed conflicts and located in the Rupertiwinkel , had to be reconciled and their church consecration days had to be redefined. To repair the damage caused by the battle and the excessive indebtedness caused by it, Ulrich approved the collection of a special tax that had to be raised by his Chiemsee subjects.
Ulrich von Montpres died on November 10, 1330. His place of death and burial are not known.
