Mountain View is a city in Santa Clara County in the US state of California in the heart of Silicon Valley . Around 74,000 people live in Mountain View. The city owes its name to the view of the Santa Cruz Mountains .
The location is at the north end of California State Route 85 , where the road meets US Highway 101 and merges into California State Route 237 . The historic El Camino Real route touches the city.
Demographics
Mountain View was home to 74,066 people according to the 2010 census . Ten years earlier, in 2000, it was a good 70,000, an increase of around 4,000.
The demographic picture shows that the city has a relatively low proportion of whites, namely just under half. Whites are nonetheless the largest single ethnic group in the city. Around a quarter of the residents are of Asian descent, which is a very high proportion for both California and US standards in general. Latinos and other Hispanic people make up 21 percent of the population. Afro-Americans , on the other hand, are poorly represented with a population of two percent.
The census also found that there were 33,881 households in the city in 2010, and that for every 100 women there were 103.5 men. The median age was 35.9 years.

Overview
Mountain View is one of the most important cities in Silicon Valley . Google , LinkedIn , Symantec , Plaxo , the Mozilla Foundation , the Microsoft departments MSN / Hotmail / Xbox and MSN TV and the NASA Ames Research Center are just a few high-tech companies that are based in Mountain View. Also, Nokia Internet Communications has its headquarters in the city. In addition, Intel was founded here and the Computer History Museum has found its final location here.
Free W-LAN / Internet
Mountain View is the first city in the USA that is completely covered with free wireless Internet access , for which Google installed the radio antennas and provides the connection. In this regard, the city has a model character.
The city also has the DNS root name server E , which is operated by NASA .
