Nek

Nek (* 6. January 1972 in Sassuolo , Modena , as Filippo Neviani ) is an Italian pop-rock musician who in 1997 with the song Laura non c'è became internationally known.

Career

Neviani started playing guitar and drums at the age of nine. From the beginning, his great musical role model was Sting , as he later explained. At the end of the 80s he played in the country duo Winchester and later in the soft rock group White Lady , with whom he appeared in bars and also recorded his first demo . In 1991 he achieved second place as a soloist at the Festival of Castrocaro with Io ti vorrei . He signed a record deal with Fonit Cetra and released his first album Nek in 1992 , which from then on would become his permanent artist name. At the Sanremo Festival in 1993 he presented the song In te , which took third place in the newcomer category and caused a sensation and negative headlines because of the anti- abortion issue ; his song Figli di chi also entered the festival, sung by Mietta . Nek's second album In te was then released , followed in 1994 by Calore umano .

With producer Rolando D'Angeli and a new record deal with WEA , Nek released his fourth album in 1996, Lei, gli amici e tutto il resto . This meant his breakthrough. With Laura non c'è he took part again in 1997 at the Sanremo Festival and took seventh place, the song also made it to the top of the Italian single charts. Other successful singles followed, such as Sei grande , with whom he took part in the festival bar. Meanwhile also known abroad ( Laura non c'è proved to be particularly successful in France, for example, Nek received RSH gold in 1999 ), Nek went on a world tour; The follow-up album In due was released in 1998, and La vita è in 2000 . Under WEA Nek always recorded his albums in a Spanish version in order to be able to market them in Spain and South America, which also showed success.

After the album Le cose da difendere (2002), which was produced by Dado Parisini and Alfredo Cerruti, Nek released his first best-of L'anno zero in 2003. In 2005 the next studio album Una parte di me was released and Nek won the festival bar that year with the song Lascia che io sia . The single became a radio and sales hit. In 2006 and 2008 the albums Nella stanza 26 and Un'altra direzione followed (the latter reached number one on the album charts), and in 2010 the second best of E da qui was released , which contains an unreleased song for Neks' newly born daughter. The single Congiunzione astrale announced the next studio album in 2013, which was titled Filippo Neviani and thus for the first time used the real name of the singer; it was dedicated to his late father.

At the end of 2014 Nek's participation in the 2015 Sanremo Festival with the song Fatti avanti amore was announced. In the competition it reached the final and landed in second place behind Il Volos Grande amore , but won the journalism award and the award for the best arrangement (to co-author Luca Chiaravalli ). Then the album Prima di parlare was released , which for the first time moved in the direction of electropop . At the end of the year Nek published his first book Lettera a mia figlia sull'amore at Rizzoli . In 2016, the musician worked with J-Ax on the casting show Amici di Maria De Filippi , later the album Unici followed .

In 2017 Nek started a joint project with Max Pezzali and Francesco Renga , from which the joint live album Max Nek Renga - Il disco emerged in 2018 . He returned to Sanremo in 2019 , but only finished 19th with Mi farò trovare pronto .
