NGC 6971 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sb in the constellation Dolphin at the northern sky . It is estimated to be 253 million light years from the Milky Way and about 80,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered by Albert Marth on August 15, 1863 .
