Nakel ( Polish Nakło ) is a village in Upper Silesia in the municipality of Tarnau (Tarnów Opolski) in the Powiat Opolski in the Opole Voivodeship .

Geographical location

Nakel is located two kilometers east of the township of Tarnau and 18 kilometers southeast of the district town and voivodeship capital Opole ( Opole ). The state road Droga krajowa 94 runs through the village .

Neighboring places of Nakel are in the northeast Raschowa ( Raszowa ), east Stubendorf ( Izbicko ) and in the west Tarnau ( Tarnów Opolski ).

history

Nakel was first mentioned in a document in 1297. In 1783 the place had 208 inhabitants, in 1844 there were 465 and finally 580 in 1900.

In the referendum on March 20, 1921, 134 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 349 for Poland. The Opole constituency had voted for Germany by a majority, which is why Nakel remained with the German Empire. In 1939 Nakel had 723 inhabitants. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Opole .

In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration and was renamed Nakło . In 1950 the place became part of the Opole Voivodeship and in 1999 the Powiat Opolski .

On February 15, 2007, German was introduced as the second official language in the municipality. On April 14, 2008 the place received the additional official German place name Nakel .
