Career
Club
Born in the Canadian province of Ontario , Nate DiCasmirro grew up in Burnsville in the US state of Minnesota and initially had dual citizenship of Canada and the United States . He began his career as a professional hockey player in 1995 with the North Iowa Huskies of the United States Hockey League , for which DiCasmirro played three seasons. In the summer of 1998, he decided to attend university and signed a four-year contract with St. Cloud State University from the National Collegiate Athletic Association . Already last year at the university he came to work for the Hamilton Bulldogs from the American Hockey League towards the end of the season . Before the 2002/03 season he finally moved to the Hamilton Bulldogs and competed with the team in the entire AHL championship. After a year he moved to league rivals Toronto Roadrunners , where he made it to 35 scorer points in 71 games. In the summer of 2004, Nate DiCasmirro joined the Edmonton Road Runners before signing a year-long contract with the Grand Rapids Griffins in 2005 . From 2006 to 2008, the Italian-Canadian stormed mainly for the Providence Bruins . In the middle of the second season with the Providence Bruins DiCasmirro moved again for 23 games to the San Antonio Rampage and for 20 games to the Syracuse Crunch .
In the summer of 2008 his adventure Europe began. DiCasmirro signed a contract with HC Bozen from the Italian Serie A1 before the 2008/09 season , but where he had to vacate his place again after 23 games. The rest of this season (10 games) he stormed for Timrå IK from the Swedish Elitserien . The following summer, the Swedish club Örebro HK took him from the Allsvenskan under contract. Against the middle of the season he left the team and found his new employer at Villacher SV in the Austrian ice hockey league . In the summer of 2010, the right wing moved again to Italy. This time he signed a contract with HC Pustertal , which, like HC Bozen, contests the championship of the Italian A1 series. At the beginning of May 2011 it was announced that his contract with HC Pustertal would be extended for one year. After two seasons in Val Pusteria, he switched to league rivals HC Valpellice in summer 2012 . There he stayed only a year and then moved to Great Britain in the Elite Ice Hockey League to the Sheffield Steelers and won the EIHL playoffs with them.
From August 2015 DiCasmirro was again under contract with HC Bozen, which meanwhile played in the Austrian ice hockey league. After a year in Bolzano, he moved to HDD Jesenice in the Alps Hockey League the following season .
International
At the Olympic qualification for the Games in Sochi , which took place in Bietigheim-Bissingen in February 2013 , DiCasmirro made his debut in the Italian national ice hockey team . Italy did not qualify for the 2014 Winter Games as third party, but DiCasmirro's goal in extra time decided the game against Germany for the Italians, which resulted in the Austrian team securing the Olympic ticket instead of the Germans . Later that year, DiCasmirro and the Italian team achieved promotion to the top division of the World Cup by finishing second behind Kazakhstan in Group A of Division I at the 2013 Ice Hockey World Championship . He then played in the top division in 2014 and, after relegated immediately, again in division I in 2015 .
