Teams

The 2018/19 season was the 70th regular time of the Swiss National League A in handball . The season started on September 1, 2018 and ended on May 23, 2019.

mode

The 10 teams played a main round of 14 games each based on the composition determined by the SHL.

(Everyone plays twice against teams from the same group plus one time against each team from the other group. A last, 14th game is played through cross games (Group A1: Group B5, A2: B4, A3: B3, A4: B2, A5: B1). Thus all teams meet a team from the other group a second time)

(Groups A & B result from the ranking errors of the last season; Group A: 1, 4, 6, 8 and 10 / promoted; Group B: 2, 3, 5, 7 and 9)

Then a final round was played as a double round with the best 6 teams from the main round. (10 games each)

The teams in ranks 7 to 10 from the main round played a relegation round with 10 games each (mode determined by the SHV). Then the teams took part in ranks 7 and 8 in the playoffs. The teams in ranks 9 and 10 determined the direct relegated team in a playout.

After the final A playoff took place in the relegation round. The first of the final round played against the second of the relegation round, the second of the final round against the first of the relegation round, the third of the final round against the sixth of the final round and the fourth against the fifth of the final round.
