Natschalowo ( Russian Нача́лово ) is a village (selo) in the Astrakhan Oblast in Russia with 5451 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The place is located in the Volga Delta , a good 10 km as the crow flies east of the center of the Astrakhan Oblast Administrative Center , into which it merges virtually seamlessly via the villages in between. It is located on the right bank of the larger Volga arm Bolda; The narrow arm (jerik) Tscherepacha (literally "turtle") flows through the village .
Natschalowo is the administrative center of Priwolschski Rajons and the seat of the rural community (selskoje posselenije) Natschalowski selsowet, which also includes the village of Yamanzug (3 km northeast) and the settlements of Boldinski (5 km east-southeast), Ivanovsky (7 km east), and Natschalo (5 km southeast) ), Novonachalovsky (adjoining to the west) and Sadowy (5 km northwest).
history
The place was created in 1771 during the reclamation of tracts of land in the Volga Delta under the governor Nikita Beketow on the orders of the Empress Catherine II. As it was the first place to be built there, it was given the name Natschalowo from Russian natschalo for "beginning". Unofficially, the village was also called Tscherepacha Natschalowo until the 20th century after the Volga arm . It belonged to the Ujesd Astrakhan, from 1785 part of the governorship of the Caucasus, from 1796 of the Astrakhan governorate .
After the introduction of the Rajon division in the Soviet period, Natschalowo belonged to the Narimanowski rajon before, on October 20, 1980, its part, located to the left of the Volga main arm, mainly east of the city of Astrakhan, was spun off as the new Privolschski rajon (roughly "Rajon on the Volga") the place whose administrative seat became.

To the south of the place runs the eastern bypass around the city of Astrakhan. The nearest train station is in Astrakhan.
