history
A fishing settlement in the area of today's place, called Tschurkinski utschug, has been known since the 16th century. In the 17th century, under Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich , a Russian Orthodox monastery was established there. Under Peter the Great , the lands came into the possession of the Kurakin family . The settlement, now called Tschurka, experienced an economic boom after the fishing area (mainly for sturgeon ) was leased in 1803 by the nobleman Fyodor Basilewski.
After the nationalization of the fishing industry as a result of the October Revolution in 1917, the place was given its current name in 1923 after the revolutionary W. Wolodarski (pseudonym of Moissei Goldstein, 1891-1918). In 1931 a raion of the same name was created, the administrative center of which was initially in the village of Marfino , a good 10 km to the east, and also after the division of the raion in August 1944 with the establishment of the Marfinski rajon. When Volodarsky was granted the status of urban-type settlement , the seat of the Marfinski rajon was relocated there. After the area belonged to the Krasnoyarsky rajon from 1963, the original Volodarsky rajon was restored on January 12, 1965, now based in Volodarsky, which is now the largest village. Since 2006, Volodarsky has been a rural settlement again.
