Krasnyje Barrikady ( Russian Кра́сные Баррика́ды ) is an urban-type settlement in the Astrakhan Oblast ( Russia ) with 6,488 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The settlement is located in the Caspian Depression , in the Volga Delta a good 20 km southwest of the Astrakhan Oblast Administrative Center . It is located on the right bank of the right Volga arm Bachtemir, slightly below its separation from the main branch of the Volga, and on both sides of the premium release from Bachtemir smaller right oxbow Bertjul.

Krasnye Barrikady belongs to the Ikryanoye Rajon and is about 15 km to the northeast from the administrative center of Ikryanoye .

history

The first settlers came in the middle of the 18th century to the place of today's place. It was initially called Bertjul after the Volga arm . At the end of the 19th century, the entrepreneurs Buniyatov founded a storage and transport company for oil from Baku , which also included a repair yard .

During the October Revolution and the Russian Civil War , there was fighting in Astrakhan between supporters and opponents of the revolution, in which workers from the Buniyatov company were also involved. In their honor, the place was renamed Krasnyje Barrikady in the Soviet period (1952) , in German ' Red Barricades ' , as was the shipyard, which was expanded into a larger shipbuilding company after the Second World War . In 1954 the place received the status of an urban-type settlement.

Economy and Infrastructure

The most important company is the Krasnyje Barrikady shipyard , which specializes in the construction and repair of special ships, floating cranes and platforms for oil exploration and production at sea.

Krasnye Barrikady is located on the R216 regional road, which connects Astrakhan with the Liman district administrative center in the southwestern part of the oblast . As a continuation of the M6 highway from Moscow, the road is also part of the European route 119 , which continues along the west coast of the Caspian Sea towards Dagestan and Azerbaijan .
