The Diersfordter Wald nature reserve is located in the area of ​​the towns of Hamminkeln and Wesel in the Wesel district in North Rhine-Westphalia . It includes u. a. the areas of the former nature reserves Großes Venn , Schnepfenberg and Schwarzes Wasser .

The area extends southwest of the core city of Hamminkeln and northwest of the core city of Wesel. The state road L 480 runs through the area , on the western edge and through the area runs the L 7. To the east run the B 473 and the A 3 . The Rhine flows to the west and the Issel to the east .

Since 1936 a 926.60 hectare area has been designated as a nature reserve for Wesel under the identification number WES-007. The area was placed under protection in order to preserve, develop and restore the forest area with its characteristic biotope structures and communities.
