The Grenzdyck nature reserve is located between the Alps , Sonsbeck and Xanten on the Lower Rhine in direct connection to the "Hees" forest.

The Grenzdyck covers an area of around 234 hectares and is largely shaped by the former flood basins of the Rhine . The wet meadow area , which is only extensively managed, favors a wide range of plants and small animals, with the occurrence of the marsh insect, which is rare in North Rhine-Westphalia, in particular.
