The Lippeaue nature reserve (WES-001) is located in the area of ​​the communities Hünxe and Schermbeck in the Wesel district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The area extends along the Lippe between the southwestern core town of Hünxe and the northeastern core town of Schermbeck. North extends the B 58 , the east A 31 , southern the country road L 463 and the east A 31 . L 1 and L 104 run through the area.

For Schermbeck and Hünxe, an area of ​​1004.15 hectares has been designated as a nature reserve under the identification number WES-001 since 1936 . The area was put under protection to the natural structures of the watercourse with its typical underwater vegetation and adjacent typical floodplain biotopes and the natural eutrophic standing waters and backwaters maintain and restore.
